Air Mekong has announced plans to launch flights connecting Hanoi with the Southern Vietnamese Con Dao Island. From 6 September, the airline will serve the route four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), departing Hanoi at 9.40 am, and returning from Con Dao at 13.40 pm. The flights will involve a short stop in Ho Chi Minh City.
Con Dao, which actually consists of seven small islands, is home to pristine beaches, as well as the historic colonial-era prisons and infamous ‘tiger cages’ used in the Vietnam War. Six Senses also recently opened a luxury resort on the islands.
